Jamie is a former head gamekeeper and has also been a project officer for Scottish Natural Heritage and an RSPB sea eagle information warden. Jamie comes from a rural background having grown up in the West Coast of Scotland, spending more time fishing and shooting than at school. Jamie’s Grandfather and great Grandfather were actively involved in Deer Stalking, Forestry and land Management and here is where he found his path in life. After leaving school Jamie worked in Game and Gamekeeping reaching head gamekeeper on a titled estate before discovering education. Spells at the North Highland and Sparsholt College augmented by the Open University bringing a Degree in Biology/Wildlife Management. Whilst studying Jamie was fortunate enough to win a Winston Churchill Scholarship and traveled to America and Africa studying the socio economic interaction of humans and large birds of prey. He is an expert in all aspects of gamekeeping, birds of prey and access.  Jamie was formerly BASC's Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management Officer.

The Value of Shooting and Conservation

A new independent study has revealed that sporting shooting contributes £270 million a year to the economy of the South West. Sporting shooting also provides 12,000 regional full time equivalent jobs, plays a major role in conserving the countryside and wildlife habitats, and provides healthy free-range meat in the region.
