LIBERAL DEMOCRAT MANIFESTO TO SUPPORT SHOOTING

The Liberal Democrat party has made a commitment to support safe, legal and responsible shooting in their next election manifesto.
 
The announcement was made at the Rural Reception, hosted by BASC and the Fisheries and Angling Conservation Trust (FACT) at party conference, by Don Foster MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
 
Mr. Foster also praised the UK's million shooters and four million anglers for their conservation work.

Other speakers at the reception included: the agriculture spokesman Lord Redesdale, who sponsored the event, Home Affairs spokesman Jeremy Browne MP, the chief executive of BASC John Swift and the chairman of FACT, Jim Glasspool.
 
Other MPs who attended the reception included: Paddy Ashdown, Lord Clement-Jones (Spokesman for Culture Media and Sport), David Heath MP (Shadow Secretary of State Justice Department), John Thurso MP (an officer of the All Party Group on Shooting and Conservation), Sir Robert Smith MP (Deputy Shadow Leader of the House), Baroness Maddock, Roger Williams MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Wales and Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs), Lord Livsey (Spokesman for Wales) Lord Teverson (Spokesman for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) The Earl of Glasgow (Spokesman for Transport) and Richard Younger-Ross MP (Shadow Minister for Culture Media and Sport).

The reception was also attended by prospective parliamentary candidates and representatives of stakeholder organisations.
