Founded by the BASC in 1986 at the request of its membership, the Wildlife Habitat Trust operates as the UK's sporting shooting conservation fund.

The Trust raises and distributes funds through grants and loans, for deserving habitat conservation projects - notably those initiated by shooting groups.

To date the Wildlife Habitat Trust and its partner charitable trust, the Wildlife Habitat Charitable Trust (Charity No. 1013816), have assisted over 50 projects distributed throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Including the purchase of over 3,260 acres of prime wildlife habitat, these projects represent an investment into wildlife conservation by shooting interests of over £1.5m.
