The recently introduced VX-L range of riflescopes from Leupold offer enhanced low light performance from a large 56 mm objective lens, with a revolutionary design that allows the scope to be mounted close to the barrel. Removing a section of the objective lens allows a 56mm objective scope to sit in rings normally used for a 40mm objective scope. This is achieved with out affecting the circular sight picture with Leupold’s usual crisp sharp image.
The reticule in the scope provided was the new “Boone and Crockett big game” number, which is a standard duplex with holdover marks for shooting out to 400 yards combined with bars that allow for aiming off to compensate for a 10 mph wind,
The scope is finished in a durable matt black, with gold numbers for the knurled zoom ring, which smoothly zooms from 4.5x to 14x in just a quarter turn. The quick focus eyepiece does exactly that and has an effective locking ring. Zeroing is by finger adjustable turrets with very positive ¼ MOA clicks, protected by screw on caps. Side mounted parallax with adjustment from 75 yards to infinity, and a grey neoprene cover complete a comprehensive package.
A useful scope for the fox shooter or deer stalker, with its low mounting height and compact size combined with Leupold’s ubiquitous build quality and lifetime warranty.
