THE SHERBORNE CASTLE COUNTRY FAIR TEAM CHALLENGE

Since starting in 2006, the BASC Team Challenge for Retrievers has become an established and extremely popular event, attracting teams from all over the South of the UK but would welcome entries from teams further afield.  However competitors would have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and lunch.  This exciting one-day event provides a great opportunity for teams of 4 Open standard retrievers to compete over some challenging tests similar to those of the international tests of past years. 

This year the event will be organised by a sub committee for Sherborne Castle Country Fair – Sheila Gussey, Caroline MacGregor and Mark Salter. The format comprises of four working tests which simulate situations likely to be encountered during the shooting season. Using blank gunfire and canvas dummies instead of game, the handlers work their dogs to show their skill and efficiency at retrieving both marked and unseen 'quarry' over different types of terrain.

The four tests will be run simultaneously in the Deer Park in the morning and in the afternoon; all the dogs will compete in a hugely exciting lakeside finale.  Spectators are welcome to park their cars close to the Deer Park entrance for the morning tests.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 31st March 2010.

Unfortunately entries will be limited to 8 teams so all entries will be put in to a hat and 8 teams will be drawn at random.

Entry fee will be £8 per dog payable once notified that your team has been selected.  This includes free entry to the Fair for competitors only.

Timetable (TBC)
9.00 am for 9.30am Meet at the Marquee in the deer park
9.30 am - Tests start
1.00 pm - Lunch
2.45 pm - Final runs by the lake (near the Castle main entrance)
4.45 pm - Parade of Teams & Prize-giving in the Main Arena.
