BASC - Tower Bird Trophies

RULES FOR JUDGING TOWER BIRD TROPHIES

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation, the Great Britain largest shooting sports body, offers four national trophies for Gundog Field Trials, named in the memory of the late Noel M (Tim) Sedgwick, the former Editor in Chief of The Shooting Times and Country Magazine  who wrote under the pseudonym “Tower Bird”.

The Trophies are awarded at the end of the field trials season to the most successful Retriever, Spaniel, HPR breed and Pointer or Setter aged four years or younger at the end of the field trial season ending on the 1st February each year.

The Trophies, presented annually at the CLA game Fair, with replicas for permanent retention, are awarded on a points system:

8 points for 1st place
6 points for 2nd place
4 points for 3rd place
2 points for 4th place
Points are doubled for two or more day stakes

It is emphasised that these are open trophies, awarded to dogs whether or not their owners are members of the BASC.

In order to make a claim for one of these prestigious awards, notification of field trial season successes must be forwarded to “Tower Bird Trophies”, Game and Gamekeeping Department, BASC Head Office, Marford Mill, Rossett, Wrexham, LL12 0HL by 30 June 2012
