Rural Land - Purchase and Management

Moorland BASC recognise the complexity of issues related to the land clubs, syndicates and members shoot over and that they aspire to shoot over via purchase and lease. BASC are therefore able to offer its members the services of an in house Rural Land Development Manager who is a Chartered Surveyor (www.rics.org.uk ) and Agricultural Valuer (www.caav.org.uk )

The Rural Land Development Manager works closely with BASC affiliated clubs and members to

Identify opportunities for purchase and lease of land for shooting.

Negotiation

Maximise income from the land they own / occupy

Conservation grants
Farm subsidies
Letting & grazing agreements

Advise on other land management issues that arise.

Local Planning Authority rules and regulations

Looking for land

There are a number of web based, property search sites, to make looking for land easier. You should also register with local Rural Agents’ (www.caav.org.uk) and Livestock Market’s.
Leases & Agreements

To secure your shooting opportunity, BASC strongly recommends that you take out a lease or shooting agreement with your landlord.
Guidance and Factsheets

BASC produce advice sheets to help you manage your shooting to best advantage for shooting and wildlife. There is a lot to learn when managing for shooting and none of us ever stop learning!
