Welcome to the Teaching Resources section. Written by teachers, this new area is devoted to resources for schools, parents and others who want to find out more about the subject of shooting in education.
All areas of the life of the nation can be relevant subject matter for schools and shooting is no different. As an activity practiced by over 1,000,000 people nationally, it directly concerns around 1/60th of Britain’s population and indirectly affects everybody else. Whatever your standpoint, educators should be aware of what it is all about.
Shooting can be part of any curriculum from history to science to PSHE or religious education and in some schools, it is actually taught practically. In time, these pages will gradually build up to act as a resource of information, discussion and teaching packs devoted to every aspect of the subject, so please return whenever you want to find something out.
BASC has been producing Codes of Practice for decades. Our codes are designed to help people to understand the laws and lore’s of different forms of shooting, and also to impart some basic, but essential guidance on health & safety.
The mission of Countryside Learning is a simple one. It is to educate, inform and inspire children, parents and teachers, so they can enjoy and appreciate the countryside while having a greater understanding of the wide range of issues surrounding it.
Everyone knows that our countryside and the wildlife it supports is under increasing pressure but how much more pressure would it be under without the influence of shooting sports?
