The Shoot Managers Seminar took place on 17th April 2007 in the Loyd Lindsay Rooms, Ardington, Wantage, Oxfordshire. It was a joint initiative with speakers from the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT, formerly The Game Conservancy Trust).
There were presentations on a wide range of topics aimed at all those involved in shoot management, such as shoot managers, agents, landowners, shoot captains and gamekeepers. Anyone who wanted to develop their shoot, or was thinking of diversifying into shooting on their land, were given the opportunity to discuss new ideas or ask advice of the leading experts from the organisations present.
Some of the subjects covered included assessing land for shooting, habitat management, employment contracts, legal issues and risk assessments.
Feedback from the event was very positive and the majority of attendees found the seminars informative and worthwhile. Similar events are planned for the future, if you are interested in attending such an event please contact BASC by email.
