Ladies Training Days

Lady Shot The BASC Ladies Clay Shooting Days are designed to encourage women to take up shooting and assist them with clay and/or game shooting.  I think there is no shortage of interest from women, it’s just that we find it more difficult to get involved.  This is particularly so for the lone woman who has no initial contacts or no-one to go shooting with.   It can be a daunting experience to find your way around what is generally perceived as a man’s world and to have our genuine interest taken seriously.  The Ladies Training Days address this problem by introducing new contacts and offering all the follow up support needed.

So you will not only make many new friends but also develop new local contacts to share in your future shooting activities.  From here on BASC will assist you with any shooting queries you may have - whether you are looking for new shooting venues or need advice with gun purchase etc.  For those who wish it, we will take the responsibility to find live quarry shooting opportunities for you and accompany you on your first day.

On your day you will learn about guns and cartridges, gun fit, safety, master eye, stance, certificates and licenses as well as field etiquette and dress.  You will be part of a small group and be allocated a BASC coach who will remain with your group throughout the day.   Clay shooting instruction will take place in the morning, with a theory session after lunch.  A mini simulated game shoot will complete the day.  The day is ideal for the novice shooter or complete beginner, although the more experienced shot will still benefit from the day as one-to-one tuition is assured.  If you’ve already started shooting, the day offers you the opportunity to improve on your skills and meet other like-minded women, keen to become involved in clay and/or game shooting.

The charge for the day will cover all costs including tea/coffee & biscuits on arrival, a buffet lunch or BBQ, refreshments during the day, the assistance of a BASC shotgun coach as well as cartridges, clays, gun hire and all safety equipment.  You may bring your own gun and cartridges with your own shotgun certificate if you wish.  All the venues are established shooting grounds with excellent facilities and clubhouse.  You will be made to feel most welcome.

Since places will be limited to ensure that everyone gets the best out of the day, do book early.  I hope you will be able to join us for what is sure to be a very enjoyable day – you do NOT have to be a BASC member to attend one of these days.

Shooting Wear For Women - The Musto FW Range

The first thing you notice when you slip into a Musto is the fit – the women’s clothing range is cut differently.  No small men’s sizes here!  These garments are designed and cut for the female form.  This means that when the gun is brought up there is no puckering at the shoulder and no ‘riding up’ at the back.  It is so important that a shooting jacket or gilet fits the wearer so that, instead of restricting movement, they enable smooth gun mounting and allow for swinging through the target.  The Musto range addresses this wonderfully.  So whether you require breeks, a gilet or full shooting coat contact Musto on 01268 495 830 or check out their www.musto.co.uk

Liz Lamb thumbnail Liz’s ‘National Lady Shot Register’

In a bid to promote and support ladies shooting, I have now set up a ‘lady shot’ register which aims to put women in touch with other lady shooters in or around their locality.  This is a great help if you are looking for company for clay shooting activities or practice.  If you would like to join my register free - please phone me on 01335 324 507.

* BASC will supply 20 and 12 gauge cartridges.  If you will be bringing a different calibre of shotgun with you please let us know at the time of booking so we can purchase the correct cartridge size for you.

BASC cancellation policy

In certain instances it may be necessary to cancel an event.  Whilst this may be unfortunate, BASC reserves the right to cancel this Ladies Day without prior notice, however, every effort will be made to provide as much notice as possible if cancellation proves necessary.  In the event of a cancellation all monies will be refunded.
