    The region is organising a six-day gundog training course to be run on one day a month from March to August, at various venues. The first day is 26th March in Hartshorne, near Burton upon Trent.

    Throughout my years as a gamekeeper, I was often asked to advise or offer some help to local D.I.Y. shoots where things were going wrong in one way or another. These days, there are a lot more shoots run by working men and women where land has been acquired with shooting rights and a syndicate of like minded shooting folk have set about forming their own shoot.

    Following the success of last year’s course the Midland Region is organising another gundog training course this year. The course will begin in March and run on one day each month until August.     People will have a chance to try a taste of game at an event at the heart of the UK's brewing heritage. The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), will host a game and ale tasting evening at the National Brewery Centre on Saturday 6th November. Guests will also be able to have a go on a state of the art Shooting simulator.

    40 young people from a variety of backgrounds, many from non-rural areas, attended our Young Shots day at Park Farm Shooting Ground in September. A host of experienced and qualified teachers were on hand to pass on their knowledge and skills in six countryside activities.
