The Greenfield Shooting Club is a project supported by BASC an our partners Promatic clay traps which take traps to new locations where our qualified shotgun coaches provide clay shooting tuition to people of all ages and abilities.

A Nottinghamshire rifle and pistol club has been given a loan of £150,000 from the Wildlife Habitat Trust (WHT). The loan is the largest to be given out by the WHT and the first to be given to a club which is not directly connected to wildfowling.

Following the success of this year’s course, we will be running further training days in 2012. The course will be made up of six individual days and will cover beating and picking-up, and also working tests. The introductory day in March will be open to any breed of gundog from the age of eight months and will cover all aspects of gundog work. Suitable for either novice handlers or experienced handlers with a novice dog, this day will consist of a lecture, demonstration and practical work.

The Midland team had a busy two days on the new extended BASC village at the British Shooting Show, Newark Showground in February. Saturday was particularly packed and our team of volunteers hardly had any time to look around the show themselves! This show is becoming very popular; totally under cover in huge heated halls, it is protected from the vagaries of the weather.

As part of the Taste of Game campaign the BASC Midlands team and the School of Artisan Food have joined forces to promote game meat as a healthy alternative. Based in the heart of Sherwood Forest on the Welbeck Estate in north Nottinghamshire, the shcool has newly refurbished training rooms especially equipped to teach breadmaking, cheesemaking, brewing, butchery, charcutierie and preserving.
