Firearms control inquiry – still time to have your say

2 September 2010

What’s new?

The Home Affairs Select Committee is allowing people more time to submit their evidence to the inquiry into firearms control. Hundreds of shooters have already submitted their evidence. An actual closing date has yet to be decided so BASC urges all shooters to act quickly while this opportunity to submit evidence remains open.

What’s it all about?

The influential parliamentary Home Affairs Committee is holding an inquiry into firearms control and is seeking written submissions from the public before it takes oral evidence in the autumn.

BASC has submitted its evidence but it’s vitally important that the inquiry also hears from individual shooters and collectors before a new deadline is decided.

Your submission must be “original work” and not merely repeat the wording of circulated information. Put your arguments in your own words. Tell the committee the type of shooting that you do, how long you have been shooting for and why it is an important part of your life.

How can I help?

BASC has produced an online guide to help you make your submission to the inquiry.
